Courtney Cox Reportedly Set to Return for Scream 7

Courtney Cox has reportedly signed on to reprise her role as journalist Gale Weathers in the upcoming Scream 7.

Variety reports that Cox, who up until earlier this year was uncommitted to returning for another Scream movie, has now officially joined the cast of the newest slasher film.

Cox was reportedly waiting to see a final script before making her decision to return as Gale Weathers, and that she was always open to appearing in a new Scream film. She's been enthusiastic about the decision to have director Kevin Williamson helm the movie. Williamson wrote the script for the original Scream back in 1996.

This means that the cast of Scream 7 is beginning to fill out. Neve Campbell confirmed earlier this year that she will be returning as Sidney Prescott. Campbell publicly revealed that the reason she didn't return for Scream 6 was over a salary dispute, but appears to have settled any differences she had with the studio following her return.

Other cast members include Isabel May who is set to play Sidney Prescott's daughter, and Mason Gooding, who will return as Chad Meeks-Martin. His presence will further connect Scream 7 to the past two films following the departures of Jenna Ortega over scheduling conflicts, and Melissa Barrera's firing over her comments on the Israel-Hamas war. The two played Sam and Tara Carpenter, respectively, and were the stars of the Scream reboots.

Cox has been one of the constant cast members in the Scream franchise ever since the first movie, and is the only cast member besides Roger L. Jackson (who voices Ghostface) to feature in every Scream movie to date.
