Marvel Comics is set to introduce a brand new Venom in the upcoming ongoing series All-New Venom this December. That raises one important question, however. What will become of Eddie Brock? The answer, it turns out, is that Eddie is becoming the new Carnage.

Marvel revealed that intriguing bit of news at the "Spider-Man and His Venomous Friends" panel at NYCC today. This surprising status quo will be explored in a new ongoing series called Eddie Brock: Carnage, which reunites the Star Wars creative team of writer Charles Soule and artist Jesus Saiz. The first issue features a cover by Iban Coello and a variant cover from Mark Bagley.

Carnage is currently appearing in the Venom War crossover event, where the symbiote is bonded to a clone of its original host, Cletus Kasady. It seems that this status quo won't last much longer. In the new series, Eddie will bond with the Carnage symbiote and do his best to control its insatiable bloodlust. Somehow, we fear that's going to be a losing battle.

“Carnage is someone that has to kill, so Eddie has to feed him deaths. In order for Eddie to be okay with that, the people he feeds Carnage are serial killers,” Soule said. “ But Carnage is also an addict, and addicts need bigger and bigger highs…”

Also at the panel, Marvel teased an upcoming crossover event called Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse, debuting in May 2025. With multiple Spider-Verse and Venomverse crossovers under their belt, we suppose it was inevitable that Marvel would combine the two. For now, the publisher is only releasing teaser art for the crossover, with full story and creative team details to come at a later date.

Elsewhere at NYCC, Marvel revealed the upcoming Rise of Emperor Doom crossover and teased a new ongoing Star Wars series called Jedi Knights. You can also check out our roundup of everything announced at NYCC.
