Hang on to your stillsuits, the new trailer for HBO's Dune: Prophecy just dropped during the NYCC panel, along with a release date of November 17.

The show is a prequel to the events of the movies, set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides and with showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker telling the story of sisters from the House of Harkonnen and the birth of the sect that becomes the Bene Gesserit. A previous trailer told us: "The more influence our sisterhood gains, the more enemies we make."

During the panel it was revealed that spice plays an integral part in the world of Dune even at that point in the timeline and that dysfunctional family proved a key theme for the story. Schapker added the show focuses on "how power operates in the light and how power operates in the shadows. It can highlight some questions about power we have today.

"Expect a real look at the Bene Gesserit and a look behind the mystique. We certainly don't want to take away their mystique, but we do want to go behind closed doors and see how they operate."

The cast boasts Emily Watson (Chernobyl, Red Dragon) and Olivia WIlliams (The Crown, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) alongside rising stars like Jessica Barden (The End of the F***ing World) and Chloe Lea (Foundation). Australian actor Josh Heuston will appear as Constantine, so of the emperor with Vikings star Travis Fimmel as Desmond, a soldier with a mysterious past.

The show has hit a few bumps during development with a tweak to the title, changing from Dune: The Sisterhood to Dune: Prophecy, and changes to the cast and the director.

Director Denis Villeneuve is confirmed to be working on a third Dune movie, but with no official title or release date as yet, Dune: Prophecy could tide fans over until they get more Muad'dib.
