Score a Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU for $829: RTX 4080 Super Contender for $200 Less

For October Prime Day, Amazon is offering the Powercolor Hellhound Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU for only $829.99. This is the best price we've seen for AMD's most powerful GPU. The 7900 XTX offers more horsepower than the RTX 4080 and goes toe-to-toe with the likes of the GeForce RTX 4080 Super.

Powercolor Hellhound AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Video Card (Comparable to the RTX 4080 Super) for $829.99

The Radeon RX 7900 XTX is AMD's flagship card and, according to our RTX 7900 XTX review, it's capable enough to challenge even the higher-end GeForce RTX 40 series cards. When you look at raw benchmarks (without ray tracing or DLSS), the RX 7900 XTX is comparable to the RTX 4080 Super. Although Nvidia's DLSS is better than AMD's FSR tech, and NVIDIA also edges ahead in raytracing performance, that's a great performance turnout for a graphics card that costs $200 less. The RTX 4080 Super starts at $999.99, but it's more commonly available at prices of $1,050 and up.

AMD Radeon cards are outstanding alternatives to the Nvidia GeForce cards in terms of both price and availability. For most gamers who want to maximize their performance for their dollar, AMD GPUs are the way to go. Really, the only times when an Nvidia card is the obvious choice and worth the extra expense is if you want to run games with ray tracing enabled, or you're invested in AI. In both cases, Nvidia GPUs are the de facto standard.
