Sony's Best Noise Cancelling Headphones Are Getting a Huge Price Drop Before Black Friday

Ahead of Black Friday, both Amazon and Best Buy have dropped the price of the Sony WH-1000XM5 noise cancelling wireless headphones to $299.99 after a $100 instant discount. This is the lowest price of 2024 and matches the deal we saw during Amazon Prime Day. In our opinion, the WH-1000XM5 are the best noise cancelling headphones available.

The XM5 is Sony's newest generation of its highly rated WH-1000 series of noise cancelling headphones. The XM5 offers noticeably superior audio quality and noise cancelling performance than its XM4 predecessor, mainly thanks to two improvements. The XM5 has been fitted with a second processor and double the microphone count dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. The earcups have also been redesigned so that they fit more snugly, thus creating a better seal and, as a result, more effective passive noise isolation. They also happen to be softer and more comfortable.

Other features include a noticeably sleeker and minimalist aesthetic, a wider headband for better weight distribution and comfort, up to 30 hours battery life with fast charging capability over USB Type-C (three minutes gives you three hours of playtime), a foldable – but not swivelling – design to keep it compact for travel, and a handy ambient-aware mode, which is Sony's version of transparency mode.
